From Unremarkable to Unforgettable
When our clients bought this high end spec home and an adjacent piece of land for their pool, the landscape was an unremarkable blank canvas in an area that didn’t have much character. But these discerning homeowners had the patience to create something special. Using borrowed views of the meadow beyond for inspiration, landscape architect Dan Gordon designed a soft color palette of lavender, grasses, red cedar woodwork and stone to blur the lines between ornamental and restoration landscaping.
To anchor the new home into the natural landscape, we brought in mature native oak trees found in the woods, along with imported honeylocusts to frame the home with soft symmetry along with a stately reclaimed granite driveway. Native shrubs and Eastern red cedar blend with lush hydrangeas, embracing the house with beautiful views from every window.
Fieldstone walls and bluestone walkways create an artisanal touch, providing a serene backdrop for the pool and seating areas beneath a red cedar arbor shaded by light filtered through a covering of woven reeds. Its a landscape fully at home in its pastoral surroundings.
