From its humble beginnings in 1980,
Landscope, Inc. has become a leader in the landscape industry, focusing on high end residential and commercial landscape design and construction on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Over the years, we have achieved the honor of being recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects for the integral role we have played in creating spaces with timeless beauty for our clients.
We have become known not only for our colorful, inviting landscapes, but for our beautiful stone masonry work and landscape restorations. Our experienced staff share diverse backgrounds in landscape architecture, environmental design, horticulture, plant/soil sciences, and high end residential construction experience.
We specialize in all aspects of landscape construction including lawns, terraces and patios, fieldstone walls, walkways and stepping stone paths, driveways and parking courts, native or ornamental tree and shrub beds, perennial and herb gardens, native wildflower meadows and land reclamation, water features, and site grading. We are also capable of maintaining and taking care of just about every aspect of the outdoor spaces that we install. Our Story
When our founder, Fred Fournier, first came to Martha’s Vineyard in the 1970s, he brought his love of the outdoors and a Bachelor of Science in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design from the University of Vermont. Starting with only a single truck and a rented bobcat, he soon established a reputation for impeccable work. As demand grew, he began to tap into larger projects encompassing masonry, landscape construction, and maintenance with a growing clientele.
By the time Josh Kochin joined the company in 1992 at the age of 19, Landscope was growing rapidly. He realized there was a promising career in the company, and dedicated the next few winters to earning his degree in landscape architecture. Thirty-two years later, Josh is now a partner in the company. Together with their large team of masons, a full maintenance crew, and a network of general contractors, they have built Landscope into one of the biggest landscaping companies on Martha’s Vineyard.
